We may never get another album as breathtaking as Wolf Parade's debut, but it's great to have them firing on all cylinders once again.

There is an energy to Cry, Cry, Cry that simply got lost in the storm Apologies created. After some time away to re-group, it seems, Wolf Parade have re-found that spark.

The greatest and most wonderful surprise is that Cry Cry Cry burns with the passion of a debut.

Wolf Parade captures how complacency allows simmering tensions to metastasize.

Cry Cry Cry is 21st-century rock at its most delectably omnivorous. [Nov 2017, p.39]

In short, it’s a Wolf Parade album. Much like last year’s EP4, the aperitif the band dropped prior to a reunion tour, however, it sometimes leans too far on the formulaic side of things to leave a real lasting impact.

Their fourth album’s trembling vocals address mortality, heartbreak, collapse, resilience, different extremities of weather, running to someone and leaving the city at night. Such earnestness is offset nicely by jaunty synthesizer sounds and admirably expressive drum work. It remains unfortunate that Wolf Parade have never reached the fascinating twitchiness of their heroes Modest Mouse.

Cry Cry Cry has all the aspects of what Wolf Parade has ever been. Every member shine through the whole album and i hardly find some weak place. Maybe is not as good as Apologies To The Queen Mary, but is very close to it. Production is sophisticated and you will enjoy all of the songs. This is a serious contender for Best Indie Rock Album of the Year along with The National´s Sleep Well Beast and Brand New´s Science Fiction.
