  1. From the booming piano-tinged ‘Opener’, through to its more touching moments like ‘She’ & ‘Queens’, you’ll feel an overwhelming sense of love and light oozing out of every pore. This optimism and energy is endearing, and further proof that 2018 is proving to be a stunning year for the great dance LP.

Initial cuts from French duo The Blaze showcased their electronic influences, however with this new album they’ve gone above and beyond with their sizzling percussions, mournful vocals and trance-like sounds.

It's clear the Blaze are still passionate about the music they make, so listeners looking for an album full of songs like their earlier material are sure to be satisfied. Those looking for adventurousness and growth may not find all that they're looking for.

Too often, it’s a simulacrum of passion: feel-good house music as daily affirmation. Unlike the broad scope of their videos, their songs feel squashed, like an inspirational message made for Instagram’s tiny window.

The coldness of the instrumentals is compounded by the duo’s vocal delivery.

Surely this is not the lyrical content and overall lyrics delivery that will transcend us the most. What attracts me in this album is the way The Blaze manage to craft simple but catchy rhythms and marvelous crescendos allowing us to feel an amazing palette of varied emotions. This can sound like a failure sometimes but they suprisingly always avoid to make it too much.

I admit it: 'Dancehall' is one of those projects that I like much more than my rating shows when I evaluate it. They often do the effort of proposing to us something we don't expect but they also always keep that traditional unquestionable basis. Definitely more compelling than experimental, challenging nor unexpected even if some beats appear to be overly simple or effortless.
