Yes, the DFA's sound is by now rather familiar, but it still thrills and stands up to repeated listens. Too much dance music is either forgettable or of the "flavor of the month" variety. Many of these remixes are better than the originals and together constitute a coherent album worth revisiting.… Expand

    The more recent remixes by DFA have really been impressing me. Their takes on songs by Delia Gonzalez & Gavin Russom, Arthur Russell, Hot The more recent remixes by DFA have really been impressing me. Their takes on songs by Delia Gonzalez & Gavin Russom, Arthur Russell, Hot Chip, and Golfrapp are some of my favorite remixes of the year; the latter of which are on this album. The rest of this album ranges from "alright" to "great," but overall I was certainly not disappointed by it. I can't believe people actually complain about the long track lengths and repetition. In fact it's amazing how for having such long mixes, they really aren't that repetetive. If you really do like dance and techno music and aren't just some indie kid who's knowledge of it comes from reading occasional P-fork DFA-touting, then there's a good chance you'll dig this comp (but hey, maybe not). Actually, some of those guys I just mentioned might like this too.… Expand

    I like good techno, but this is not it. ancient sounding samples and extremely boring repetitive tracks, some of which run waaayyy too long.
