  1. While the tracks are longer and more realized, they're still distinctly remixes instantly recognizable as DFA output -- a mark of individual distinction many remixers strive to attain but few reach.

Fun the way a dance floor should be. [#22, p.102]
  3. We know that that the DFA can do dynamic mutation as well as anyone, but Chapter Two reveals that it's their quest to become pioneers of the hypnotic groove that is the more seductive.

Chapter Two boasts more dance-music artists than the first volume did, which allows greater leeway for the DFA to build glitteringly gritty club epics that don't stop till you get enough. [Nov 2006, p.206]

All I can say is that I hope this series becomes a trilogy. [#15]
  6. Vibe

Sure, the DFA treat their sources irreverently, but their updates are better. [Nov 2006, p.165]
  7. Only their radical overhaul of Nine Inch Nails' Hand That Feeds shows any sign of creativity.

Anyway, despite what others think, this is a pretty solid collection of remixes. Yes, the DFA's sound is by now rather familiar, but it Anyway, despite what others think, this is a pretty solid collection of remixes. Yes, the DFA's sound is by now rather familiar, but it still thrills and stands up to repeated listens. Too much dance music is either forgettable or of the "flavor of the month" variety. Many of these remixes are better than the originals and together constitute a coherent album worth revisiting. Expand

The more recent remixes by DFA have really been impressing me. Their takes on songs by Delia Gonzalez & Gavin Russom, Arthur Russell, Hot Chip, and Golfrapp are some of my favorite remixes of the year; the latter of which are on this album. The rest of this album ranges from "alright" to "great," but overall I was certainly not disappointed by it. I can't believe people actually complain about the long track lengths and repetition. In fact it's amazing how for having such long mixes, they really aren't that repetetive. If you really do like dance and techno music and aren't just some indie kid who's knowledge of it comes from reading occasional P-fork DFA-touting, then there's a good chance you'll dig this comp (but hey, maybe not). Actually, some of those guys I just mentioned might like this too. Expand

Yep, this confirms it. Pitchfork are a bunch of yes men fanboys that know absolutely nothing of good music. I would go as far to say that Yep, this confirms it. I would go as far to say that they are playing some kind of reverse psychology gimmick where they give high scores to total crap music and vice versa....well done! Collapse

I like good techno, but this is not it. ancient sounding samples and extremely boring repetitive tracks, some of which run waaayyy too long.
