One of the biggest surprises of the year. J.I.D's album was full of hilarity, intimacy, and liveliness. A vivid project complemented with great production, and some nice verses done by the Atlanta native. There is a lot to take in, with tracks like Workin' Out, Skrawberries, and Slick Talk defining his career. Jazzy and industrial sounds in Atlanta clearly do not match, yet it is surprisingly well executed by J.I.D. There are some disappointments in here too though. Off Deez with a strangely out of shape J.Cole was meant to be the key track in this album, but the repetition and the overdone lyricism just didn't work. 6lack, Method Man, and A$AP Ferg features delivered in some way, but it just wasn't as favorable as when J.I.D stood alone. Even with that, this album is very solid in sound and performance.

Probably the best that he has to offer yet. An unexpected run at top rap album.

Not a critic so I can't give it a 96 but I'd rather give it a 10/10 then a 9/10. J.i.d released probably my favorite album of the year, which is awesome cause he's just starting and this isn't even my fav Jid album

J.I.D dropped the album DiCaprio 2 after releasing the main single, his collab with label head J. Cole, Off Deez. After an amazing song such as Off Deez, the expectations for the album was set sky high. J.I.D is no stranger to playing with words and rhythms, something he beautifully showcase on this album. With a. variety of different moods delivered through the album, such as the playful yet serious song 151 Rum or the more down to earth and moody Workin Out, he truly shows why many considers him as the head of the newer hip-hop generation. Overall a solid album, and I'm sure we're all excited to what he can deliver in the future. Expand

A well made album that shows JID's lyrical prowess and his talent certainly shines through on most of the tracks

With sick flows and a versatile delivery, J.I.D's latest effort is one of the rawest and most lyrically refined rap albums of the year.

Even though Dreamville's JID was placed in likely the least lyrical XXL Freshman class of all time, he stood out miles ahead of his peers. I was introduced to JID, like many, through his frantic collaboration with label head J. Cole, during which JID forced Cole into one of the fastest-moving lyrical footraces I can remember. No, wait, I was actually introduced to JID through his phenomenal guest verse on Denzel Curry's Sirens, the type of verse to make a rapper go back to the drawing board and think of something new - and Denzel said JID was the only one throughout all the TA13OO sessions to make him do so. So going into this album with only Sirens, Off Deez, and 151 Rum behind me, I had high expectations - and Destin Route smashed every single **** one of them. The only complaint I have is that it is billed as a Gangsta Grillz mixtape, but it's actually a full length album - and even that's not a bad thing. Expand

JID proved to be one of the best MC's out here when it comes to innovative deliveries. I saw some amazing potential in his 2017 album, The Never Story. On here I think he perfectly shows his potential. He perfectly shows why he is top notch in the game when it comes to flows. He perfectly shows why he is top notch in the game when it comes to flows. The versatility of this album is something I can also appreciate. The amount of different sounds he uses is amazing. In terms of lyrics, this album is beyond exceptional. He touches on loads of subjects, from his come up in rap on Just Da Other Day, to relationships on Skrawberries and Tiiied, to losing his friends while he was young on 151 Rum. The beats on here are also pretty good for the most part. The only beats I disliked were Mounted Up and Hotbox.

I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the never story but there were definitely some high lights, I think with diving into some more R&B or soulful beats JID could really excel

Segundo álbum de JID, el más trapero, muy buenos cambios de beat y con su voz consigue un sonido muy único y original.

Once the starpower dazzle fades, it’s not always obvious who he is, but the lack of easy answers makes him interesting enough for now.

DiCaprio 2 surpasses everything the rapper offered before it, with his strengths in full focus at a level that can't help but remind of the career peaks of greats that came before him.

His songs are about joy and hunger and reflection and fun. Not one of them feels as if it’s trying to save hip-hop.
