With this grower, Freelance Whales have avoided the sophomore slump and grown into one of indie rock's most intriguing new acts.
  2. While it may lack the immediate magnetism of Weathervanes, there's plenty of reasons to think when all is said and done, Diluvia will be the album that carries them forward and cements their status as one of New York City's most creative and rewarding indie bands.

The music is consistently impressive. A calmer, mellower than its predecessor, affair, Diluvia is an enchanting album worth several listens.

The vocal harmonies, synths and fancy banjo plucking are highlights on an album filled with enchanted imagery.
  5. Nov 6, 2012
    60
Diluvia is an album that requires time and attention, but is ultimately worth every listen.
  6. Oct 10, 2012

Diluvia offers up a perfectly rendered snapshot of the cresting East Coast indie pop scene, conjuring up images of nomadic laptop studios, vintage bicycles, endless stacks of tattered Tor paperbacks, and heavily tattooed, non-smoking urbanites noshing on locally grown produce.
  7. Oct 12, 2012

Diluvia demonstrates growth for the band by finding a happy medium between a familiar sound and some well-placed surprises.
