This remix compilation is a Who's Who of the electronic left field, but doesn't quite retain the character of the album.

Even when the remixes don't come up with anything particularly groundbreaking to say, it's interesting to hear Gloss Drop through new ears.
  3. Apr 17, 2012
If you're drawn to Battles' nimble melodic turmoil and general musical messiness, you may find some of these electro excursions to be hard work.
  4. Apr 12, 2012
For such an experimental band maybe they could have pushed these remixes further instead of into a no-man's land of accessible. For Battles, this is unchallenging territory.
  5. Apr 12, 2012
Their original tracks are mostly given a more electronic, dancefloor hue, within which styles rollercoast from from hip-hop to garage to African music, and moods from airy to sinister.
  6. Apr 27, 2012
The remixers seem bent on matching Battles' creativity, though the end result, while at times admirable, may leave listeners longing for a full airing of Gloss Drop.
  7. Apr 18, 2012
It's not that it's great or horrible, it just manages to take Battles' exceptional sophomore album Gloss Drop and make it far less interesting and original.

Too often the reworkings of the songs are either not different enough, or ... just plain boring. [May 2012, p.91]
  9. Apr 12, 2012
Unfortunately, the majority of Dross Glop's remixers fail to find any new inspiration in reworking the original material. The results are scattershot, meandering, awkward, and often boring.
