robNov 1, 2008Much better than the haters would have you believe.

oscarlOct 8, 2008I dont get it? critics go on about how good thirteen tales, their "old" stuff is so good, and they bitch about how crap ...earth is. sure, it sounds like they haven't progressed anywhere with the album, but is that such a bad thing?

PaulASep 28, 2008Critics hate this stuff, but I really don't understand why. There is much to appreciate in this album. I have always been a fan of the unconventional, and that's what this is, packaged in easily digestible, catchy tunes. Don't take it too seriously, there's a bevy of silly stuff, just try to enjoy it.

AndersKSep 21, 2008Best album of the year. The Dandy Warhols' best album, by far.

jaywhSep 20, 2008It sucked, i hated every song the album was as bad as the last one they use to be a good band i miss the stuff like they had in come down and 13 tales , its a shame.

PatD.Sep 2, 2008A dense album, with some brilliant moments and some less... like an amalgam of all the styles the Dandys flirted with since their beginning. not their best effort for sure but a good one still.

WesM.Sep 1, 2008I don't know... I didn't think it was THAT terrible... granted, I haven't kept a single one of these songs on rotation so... yeah.

JamieH.Aug 29, 2008This is what I love about this band is that each album has a completely different sound. There isn't a whole lot of bands out there that have that kind of diversity in their music that the Dandy's have. Really good album for such a stand out band.

JimV.Aug 23, 2008Great friggin album.

BrandonS.Aug 21, 2008Another great album by the Dandys. They've reined in some of the excesses of Odditorium and mostly get back to the amazing grooves and harmonies of their previous albums. This is a great addition to their already strong body of work.

PacNWAug 21, 2008They are my boyz from PDX, man. Give up the love for the Dandy's, y'all. Portland! Woohoo! The best! Portland is so cool.

MichaelA.Aug 20, 2008I think this one's getting an unfair slam. It's not my favorite Dandy's album, but it's infinitely better than Odditorium, their last one, and more consistent than Welcome to the Monkey House. Love 'em or hate 'em... I don't think this one will change your mind but there are a handful of killer songs here.

AlexP.Aug 20, 2008Just the most unaware, droning dullness. I wish I didn't have to invest my time.

-
TerryD.Aug 20, 2008I was going to give it a 7, but I'm so sick of these pretentious people giving it a zero just because they are too obstinate to listen to it without a fair set of ears. Just keep dissing the Dandy's because you didn't like how they portrayed on "Dig!" I had problems with it, but I still felt it had merit. A zero eh! Whatever makes you Dandy dissers feel superior.

MattM.Aug 20, 2008I was willing to listen to Welcome To The Monkey House repeatedly despite some really awful efforts. There was even a moment or two of Odditorium that wasn't pure dog crap. But this release...well, I could have sworn there was actually dog crap spewing from my speakers. This band needs to stop making music and stop NOW.

RockyF.Aug 20, 2008This band is horrible!

-
JamesN.Aug 20, 2008I was a fan until 2005. This is a self indulgent, worthless piece of crap that I have tried to get into but come back to the same conclusion (A complete was of my time and yours). Do yourself a favour, don't bother.

FelipeP.Aug 20, 2008The worst album of the year.

Awards & Rankings
-
The set is somewhat of a shambolic affair, wherein kernels of good ideas get blown out, jumbled up or lost in execution.
-
Their sixth album is shambling and empty, spiked infrequently with a good bassline or an almost-good chorus, and even the jokes founder on the band’s contempt.
-
Their sixth album (and the first on their own label) is their most self-assured set yet, veering from sparkling glam to funky New Orleans boogie by way of early Nineties shoegazing.
