  1. The album is a refreshing mix of thoughtfulness and testosterone.
  2. The rest of Easy Does It suffers from curiously opposing problems: too many songs in awe of generically wild women-- including 'Eight Second Ride,' repeated from his 2006 debut--and a tendency for the 27-year-old to slip into middle-aged schmaltz.
  3. That Mr. Owen rarely sounds out of place is a testament to his mutable, honeyed voice, but also to his fundamental blankness, meaning he rises and falls with the mode he chooses to adopt. And when he chooses poorly, it stings.
  4. It's his easy charm that turns Easy Does It into an effective piece of country-pop product.
