    If Explosions in the Sky are drawing an era to a close, then End is a great way to do it. It takes elements of their past and hints at what the future could sound like. And that future sounds pretty good.

    Explosions in the Sky have always been epic in their approach and execution. End is no different, even if this album leaves unclear what is ending or what might be just beginning.

    End still brims with hope and promise, no more so than on "Moving On," with its beaming synths and stadium drums, and "Loved Ones," which builds atop an extended piano interlude. End might not be a breakthrough, but it doesn't have to be.
