Mejor producción que álbumes anteriores y temas más diferentes que en álbumes anteriores sin perder la esencia. Un 9.

Working elsewhere with The Liminanas and in the band L'Epee with them and Emmanuelle Seigner seems to have rejuvenated Anton Newcombe. The result is the best BJM album in years. Even the slow tracks have an urgency and verve to them that suggest a fresh spark, and surprisingly uptempo, driving cuts like "Ineffable Mind****" (yes, it seems song titles are still pulled out of Anton's ass and have nothing to do with the song) sweep you up somwhere between jungle and glam. Incredible album with incredible sound. This is why my wife and I bought a Vinyl record player. Anton is a force of nature.

Throughout there is a sense of making music for the sheer thrill of it. ... This is Newcombe celebrating the moment and at his best. [Aug 2022, p.92]

It starts with rousing rebel anthem “The Real”, and further highlights include the shoegaze drawl of “What’s In A Name?”, the jittery “Silenced” and the sinister growling surf of “You Think I’m Joking”. [Jul 2022, p.25]

Defying categorisation, 'Fire Doesn’t Grow On Trees' feels simultaneously well-situated in Brian Jonestown Massacre’s expansive discography, while continuing their core ethos of subverting the indie scene, always looking in the opposite direction of the mainstream.
