    The rolling stones is totally off here, and should really regret creating such a blatantly biased review. The lyric work in this album was noticeably concentrated, in my opinion, compared to their other albums.

    I really liked the first half of the album; 'no halo', 'boy bye', 'if you pray right' and 'dearly departed' were really great. Starting with 'born again' the album started to fall flat imo. It had some individual good bars and hooks but the super heavy use of auto tune really turned me off. Still thinks it's a very solid effort. When the boys shine they shine very bright.

    truly an improvement from iridescence, it seems as if they’re finding their new sound. really solid tracks such as sugar and dearly departed. not disappointed at all, in fact very pleasantly surprised.

    Great album from everyone working on it, with the autotune being a little excessive in tracks such as "Big Boy" and "Sugar", but make it up with songs such as "Boy Bye" and "If You Pray Right". Overall a beautiful album with some beautiful tracks like "No Halo" and "Dearly Departed".

    “GINGER” is not necessarily the album we wanted BROCKHAMPTON to make, but it is definitely what we needed. This is more reserved than previous efforts, notably the “SATURATION” trilogy. This is their 2nd major label effort, and this is really good. They overcame a lot of obstacles as a family. The one thing to take away from this album is that they’ve changed and matured. This does feel“GINGER” is not necessarily the album we wanted BROCKHAMPTON to make, but it is definitely what we needed. This is more reserved than previous efforts, notably the “SATURATION” trilogy. This is their 2nd major label effort, and this is really good. They overcame a lot of obstacles as a family. The one thing to take away from this album is that they’ve changed and matured. This does feel therapeutic in a way. The instrumentals are more sparse, but still well produced. All the members of the boyband have shining moments on this album unlike “iridescence” where one member usually outshines other members. The hooks/choruses are also better written and more catchy. This is a more accessible album than “iridescence”. I feel that this will help out a lot of fans of the group and a lot of people in general facing all types of issues: depression, family issues, etc. All the songs are good, but the best ones that will stand out as some of BROCKHAMPTON’s best material to date is “NO HALO”, “SUGAR”, “BOY BYE”, “IF YOU PRAY RIGHT”, “DEARLY DEPARTED”, and “VICTOR ROBERTS”. This is anywhere from an 8 to an 8.5 for me.… Expand

    "GINGER" is not an album for the average consumer. Its sound is vast, with a handful of genres, tempos, and topics being presented. This album will be greatly appreciated by the fans of BROCKHAMPTON. This album showed a large amount of growth and direction shift in their artistry. They deliberately choose not to make another "SATURATION" and moved on from the initial shock of Ameer being"GINGER" is not an album for the average consumer. Its sound is vast, with a handful of genres, tempos, and topics being presented. This album will be greatly appreciated by the fans of BROCKHAMPTON. This album showed a large amount of growth and direction shift in their artistry. They deliberately choose not to make another "SATURATION" and moved on from the initial shock of Ameer being kicked out in "IRIDESCENCE". This is a confident album. There are extremely strong tracks like "NO HALO", "SUGAR", "DEARLY DEPARTED", and "ST. PERCY". Also some weak ones as well, "I'VE BEEN BORN AGAIN", and "GINGER".     Easily the worst and filler BROCKHAMPTON album. 'Not bad' singles absolutly doesend fit with other tracks. DEARLY DEPARTED and BIG BOY is pretty solid but track's like SUGAR, ST. PERCY, GINGER, LOVE ME FOR LIVE, VICTOR ROBERTS just forgotten immediately after listening. All singles was on repeat for days after realese, but they don't compare to SATURATION trilogy singles.     GINGER is an excellent album and for sure lives up to the hype it generated with its various singles prior to its release. It goes for a much more emotional and introspective feel vs their previous albums but still retains that funky and high energy feeling with tracks like "IF YOU PRAY RIGHT", "HEAVEN BELONGS TO YOU", and "BOY BYE". "ST. PERCY" is another track that I find very enjoyable and a highlight on this album, the instrumental is so satisfying and listening to bearface really rap instead of singing was a nice surprise. "LOVE ME FOR LIFE" gains all my respect as well mainly for Merlyn's crazy verse. "SUGAR", "NO HALO", "DEARLY DEPARTED", and "VICTOR ROBERTS" take a much different direction that works really well for what BROCKHAMPTON are going for on this album overall and are all fantastic tracks. The only tracks I thought were a miss was "GINGER", "I BEEN BORN AGAIN", and "BIG BOY". These tracks are just hard for me to get into and don't work in some ways, especially on "I BEEN BORN AGAIN". Joba's voice should never be that low on a track. GINGER is 80% amazing and deserves an 8.… Expand

You still have the uptone and catch tunes like BOY BYE and SUGAR but then tears your emotions up with songs like NO HALO, DEARLY DEPARTED and VICTOR ROBERTS.     The album has grown on me immensely, at first I was disappointed because it wasn’t what we really wanted, but it was what we needed. From great features from slowthai, deb never ryan and more, we get a protect that expreses emotions with high energetic/hype bangers, songs that are melancholic and slower, songs that give you nostalgic vibes, and moments that could honestly make you cry. IThe album has grown on me immensely, at first I was disappointed because it wasn’t what we really wanted, but it was what we needed.     In my humble opinion I think this stands as their second best album behind saturation 3 and that could change. I remember hearing that the production took a while for them this time around and it really shows. The hooks and vocals are pretty solid, some tracks stand out a lot more in that regard such as deeply departed which is a very impactful and essential Brockhampton track which is drenched in a sad nostalgic synth comatose and each member rips their heart into, top tier track for sure. One thing I’ve noticed after a couple relistens are how much I appreciate tracks more than I already have, I feel like Romil and Jabari really just standout above all on this thing, it sounds like a Kanye and James Blake fusion. In all honesty my one fault is with I Been Born Again which sticks out for being really boring when compared to the rest of this project, I would give it a 8.5/10 this thing is great… Expand

    The sound of a hiphop boyband is on full force here which is what made the band popular in the first place. Although the uneven nature seems to unfortunately be a step backward.

    Overall, a very solid album but it doesn’t reach the standard set by the saturation trilogy. I would say it’s better than iridescence (felt like a more complete album) however, it’s just missing the “wow” factor that made the saturation albums so great.

    I loved this thing to bits. The album has a fantastic start with the track "No Halo", which is very different than all other intros to previous Brockhampton albums. While others have a very pumped up and excited feel, this has a very lonesome and calming vibe. Track after track, it this album keeps delivering. Until we reach "I Been Born Again", which is still an alright song, but not atI loved this thing to bits. Until we reach "I Been Born Again", which is still an alright song, but not at all as impressive as the previous tracks, especially since it comes after "Dearly Departed", which is arguably one of the best tracks on the album. With the next track, "Ginger", it gives a bit of a happy and fun feel, which some may love, and others hate. I, however, enjoyed the track. "Big Boy" is probably my least favorite, but i still very much enjoyed Joba's verse, which kind of saved it for me. The hook is also growing a bit on me as well. With the second to last track, "Love Me For Life", it brings back a bit of a fun feel, while still keeping a bit of a lowdown feel as well. As for the final track, "Victor Roberts", I enjoyed it a lot. It starts with a previously unknown voice reliving childhood memories of LAPD breaking down his door to raid his mother and father's house for drugs, which takes up about half the track or so. We then get a great chorus from Ryan Beatty and a nice bridge from Bearface, with Ryan then ending off the song, and in turn the album, with a fading out chorus. I feel like Brockhampton was much more focused on this album. Everyone was on track and everyone seemed like they knew the feel they were going for on each track and on the album as a whole. Overall really enjoyed this project, I can't wait to see where they go in the future. 8/10.… Expand

    its taken me an extremly long time to really digest this album, i felt the same way with iridescence. the production from romil and jabari is beyond anything theyve done, jabari produced the beautiful song "no halo" whch has to be the best song on the entire album. when it comes to this album though it very obvious that all the members are not taking fame well, it seems that joba is losingits taken me an extremly long time to really digest this album, i felt the same way with iridescence. the production from romil and jabari is beyond anything theyve done, jabari produced the beautiful song "no halo" whch has to be the best song on the entire album. when it comes to this album though it very obvious that all the members are not taking fame well, it seems that joba is losing his mind more and more as time goes on, kevin abstract seems to be battling with depression and finding a place where he feels he belongs. dom seems to be frutrated where they have ended up. the rest of the members seem to doing alright shich is good. but thats exactly where i feel this album falls, when the boys came off of iridescence people were expecting something less sad and something more like the saturation era, because brockhakpton seem to do better when their making happy music. a good example of that is boy bye, that song ive seen is the most popular off the album and i understand why. the song brings that exact vibe that brockhampton fans are looking for the happy exicing booming production and unique flows with intresting production. the last thing i want to talk about is the tracklist, i honestly beleive this albums splt into two parts, the singles(that includes st.percy and sugar) and the album. the songs that are meant for the album are cool in theyre own respect i dont think that they work in the contect of the singles, like for example dearly departed doesent really work between if you pray right and i been born again.overall i think this album is pretty good just when the track list is really weird and all over the place.… Expand

    Beautiful work from the boys here. Love the sensitivity present while still being able to amaze lyrically and on the musical side. Only a couple tracks towards the end don't hit very hard, but DEARLY DEPARTED and VICTOR ROBERTS more than make up for that.

    Their best album hands down. Really enjoyed that collab with slowthai. Best songs on the album: NO HALO, BIG BOY, IF YOU PRAY RIGHT and HEAVEN BELONGS TO YOU.

    The most complete BROCKHAMPTON project to date, this album is the first of theirs that I truly think every song is quality. In spite of this, it could still be better. Aside from "VICTOR ROBERTS" I felt that the album began to drag after "DEARLY DEPARTED".

    There are absolutely some potent and emotional songs off Ginger but I don't think it's on the same level of quality as the Saturation trilogy or iridescence. If I want to hear super fun pop rap songs I'll listen to the saturation trilogy and if I want to listen to saddening and more emotionally conscience songs then I have iridescence.     brockhampton somehow pulled a 180 and made a sad kind of heartbreak album and it was really good, defied my expectations since before listening to this album i had seen some amounts of hate toward it. pretty great album overall

    This album is their best one to date. If the SATURATION trilogy was banger season, this is mood season. Everything done perfectly, not a bad song on the album.

    I discovered "Sugar" a while ago and I think it is a great song, and since I liked their previous album, "Iridescence" so much, I said why not listen to this album, and well... I am very disappointed. I think this is a step backwards, a downgrade from "Iridescence". I know it is dumb and pointless to compare a new album to the artist's past projects but I can't really ignore that thisI discovered "Sugar" a while ago and I think it is a great song, and since I liked their previous album, "Iridescence" so much, I said why not listen to this album, and well... I am very disappointed. I think this is a step backwards, a downgrade from "Iridescence".     The album brims with delicate moments like the title track and standout "Victor Roberts." In the former, plumes of electronics caress empathetic lines with genuine emotion, while the latter introduces new associate Victor Roberts with crystallized observations of childhood trauma and grimy electricity. Exhibition of vulnerability and invincibility, Ginger blood-lets an emotional palette where wounds are finally left to heal.

    At this point of the Brockhampton story, the boys have tempered the antics and wild-child energy of past releases, maturing with an authentic grace that will only further endear them to fans of past work looking for more substance and sentiment.
