EllaellaEhEhJul 30, 2007This reeks of wannabe-ism: wanna be street smart, wannbe rock'n'roller, wannabe heartbroken. But come on people - this is crap! It's so pretentious, Don't Let them bring you down? Hellu? He is to rock what Millie is to Vanilla - faked!

RueMar 22, 2007Some of my favorite pop/rock in a long long time. The writing and especially the production are superior to his last record, "The Heat." This one gets better with each spin.

CoreyNMar 17, 2007Some songs are really great "Broken Radio" and "Don't let them take you Down" especially but the album suffers a bit from a few weak tracks and isn't as strong overall as "The Heat" or "The Fine Art of Self Destruction". Still much better than 95% of the music being made today.

mattHMar 8, 2007The album includes both an unnecessary re-working of "since your in love" from The Heat and an unnecessary piano ballad version of the Replacement's classic "Bastards of Young". Jesse has lost his songwriting muse and rock n roller spirit on this album and all the special guests in the world can't make up for it.

Malin has seemingly adopted the persona and sound of his New Jersey counterpart Bruce Springsteen.

UncutDespite a top-drawer guest list, this often feels like empty bombast. [Mar 2007, p.98]
-
Alternative PressHis best release ever. [Apr 2007, p.190]
