    Each song lilts with a country twang as Julia Steiner's achey vocals weave sunburst and vivid stories of dead pets and heartbreaks on ice-rinks.

    It has to be said that this is more of a nice vibe record than it is one full of great standalone songs, but when the vibe created is as utterly charming as this, that can only be a minor gripe. [1 Jul 2017, p.52]

    If the added instrumentation sometimes feels a bit forced—there’s some slide guitar that feels extraneous, a sop to tradition--it’s more than made up for by the artistry that underlines the rest of it.
