  • Summary: The singer collaborated with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Ne-Yo for her third album.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 9 out of 17
  2. Negative: 0 out of 17
  1. Rihanna works with edgier and wittier verse than on her two previous albums.
  2. Three consecutive Timbaland productions, including one suited for a black college marching band and another that effectively pulls the romantically co-dependent heartstrings, enhance the album rather than make it more scattered.
  3. An unexpectedly varied and satisfying listen.
  4. Frankly, any track from this set could work as a single.
  5. Lyrics are once again an Achilles high heel for Rihanna.
  6. Focusing more on catchy hooks and Fergie-style chants than lyrics helps disguise her vocal limitations. [9 Jun 2007]
  7. Truly, this is music for the ringtone generation.

This album is mostly flawless from start to finish. Songs like "Question Existing", "Good Girl Gone Bad", "Sell Me Candy", "Lemme Get Dat", and a few others despratly need taken off this album. Highlights include "Hate Myself For Loving You", "Umbrella", "Push Up On Me", "Breakin' Dishes", "Shut Up And Drive", "Rehab", "If I Never See Your Face Again", "Disturbia", "Take A Bow"! Expand

The best R&B album of the year!

The best album of 2007 and 2008! Awesome songs, "Umbrella", "Don't Stop the Music", "Take a Bow" and "Disturbia". Rihanna bet strong in this production, and the result was a very powerful disk, her best so far. I'm sure that the successor of Rated R will be like this, or even better! Expand

I'm really not a fan of most pop music, but the album is quite good, although very calculated. Almost any of the songs except for 1 or 2 could be singles. Rihanna has found her niche, and she is best suited for dance-type tracks rather than ballads such as "Unfaithful". This will be one of the better R&B albums of the year. Expand
