YossarianMar 23, 2004Good but not excellent, midway between On a Wire and Something to Write Home About. Poppy but still slightly experimental indie. No doubt they are best with Pop, but back off on it. If you want bouncy sing-along all the time listen to Sum 41 and Simple Plan. And bob p needs to stop crying, their band not his, and a band tends to evolve.

LiliaNMar 2, 2004I hadn't heard this band in many years. This was really great. They've grown up.

dFeb 6, 2006agreed. bob p needs to stop whining. it's a definite evolution from their earlier days. and you want the sing-along choruses and hooks? go listen to kelly clarkson. seriously, get off this forum if that's what you're looking for in tguk or even real music for that matter

Paired with the Kids fidelity to verse/chorus pop, Pryors boyishly confident, hopeful delivery can sound pro forma, even mindless.
-
The Get Up Kids relies on classic pop arrangements (piano accents, acoustic bridges, moody electronic/orchestral interludes, and climactic choruses) to bring a touch of class to what might otherwise be standard half-hook emo, faintly catchy but fundamentally unmemorable.

Alternative PressTheir most complete-sounding disc to date. [Mar 2004, p.91]
