Young Billie is one of the most complete artists that has emerged in recent years and with that she participates in the youth society exposing everything she thinks about her compositions alongside her brother, Finneas and that brings up what's been lacking in many young people lately. Many of the songs on this album have their own essence, speaking from emotional abuse, to mistrust, to the human situation for the most part and it does a brilliant job and shows how much Billie Eilish has a lot to talk to us about.

Bravo!

This album picks right up from her debut. At first I was concerned listening to the singles. But as I listened more I grew to love these songs and play them on repeat. This Sophomore effort is beautifully written and produced. Hats off to Billie and Finneas for another masterpiece.

So plain I don't even have words to express it. Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for a slowly flowing sad ballad-filled album, but this one is just a yawn-squeezer for me, as well as LDR's most recent one. I understand it is supposed to be personal and is infused with Billie's traumatic experiences from past relationships, I just didn't find any song captivating enough to add to my library. Also on some songs the space between you and Billie's voice is so close it's almost uncomfortable, because of that I assume many people are going to say that Billie couldn't sing, only whisper. The production on some tracks is truly stunning, beautiful and futuristic. But for the most part this album is just subpar. My opinion, you know? Expand

Lots of nice lyrics with moody production, but the title track is easily the best on the album.

"Happier Than Ever" shows that Billie and Finneas are not prone to the sophomore slump. Albeit not as great as her debut, Billie Eilish's newest album is full of sleek electropop, calm folk tunes, and scenic soundscapes.

While I am not a huge fan of Billie Eilish, this new album shows areas of remarkable growth lyrically and vocally over her previous album, which was very hit and miss for me. For instance, she has never sounded better than she does on “GOLDWING,” “Haley’s Comet,” and “Everybody Dies.” Also, the title track is an awesome tale of two sides and two energies, but I wish it was the album closerWhile I am not a huge fan of Billie Eilish, this new album shows areas of remarkable growth lyrically and vocally over her previous album, which was very hit and miss for me. For instance, she has never sounded better than she does on “GOLDWING,” “Haley’s Comet,” and “Everybody Dies.” Also, the title track is an awesome tale of two sides and two energies, but I wish it was the album closer even though “Male Fantasy” is a fine track on its own. FINNEAS also kills it on this album with the production and quality track transitions. The singles gave a taste of the album, but I am glad she saved the best for the album. Many tracks on here stick to Billie’s signature way of talk singing seen on her previous album, which isn’t necessarily bad as they do transcend, at least for me, those tracks for the most part. Lastly, why couldn’t the spoken track, “Not My Responsibility,” be a sung track? Solid album though. “Getting Older” discusses the deranged strangers that seem to be always knocking on her door, the difficulty of healing, and how things once loved can fade. “Haley’s Comet” is a beautiful dreamy love song that has her wondering what she is going to do since she fell in love. “Everybody Dies” addresses mortality, the problem of the idea of immortality, being alone, wondering why death must be and when your own turn will be, and how you really aren’t alone.

In general the album is good, we see a change and evolution, very different from their previous work. Billie has established herself as one of the most important artists of these times and her music must evolve and improve.

There are definitely some gems on this album, and the songwriting is great. However, some songs have really boring melodies. This is still far better than her 2019 album.

"Everything feels and sounds different", or something like that Billie said in Vanity Fair interview in November 2020. That's absolutely true. Finneas did an incredibly job at producing songs and it feels like he experimented here more, than on Billie's debut album. I'm sure they were both having fun creating this. So, whilst it may not boast songs that stick with you for months in the way that Eilish’s first does, Happier Than Ever feels like a project that will age more gracefully and, in years to come, it may even come to eclipse that which came before it.

“Your Power” is the slowest-and-lowest moment on “Happier Than Ever,” but as a whole the album is softer, quieter, more languid than Eilish’s trap-inflected debut. ... The dreamy-jazzy mode suits her singing, which has never sounded better than it does throughout “Happier Than Ever.”

Billie Eilish’s second album expands upon everything that worked the last time and pushes it in new directions, a creative muse restless and bold in its ambition. It may not always land, but this is a terrific release that proves Eilish’s staying power, demonstrating she’s more than up to the task of delivering on the promise of her debut.
