    While Mayer is a very capable musician, the hushed, back-of-the-throat affectation of his vocals grates after awhile, as does his overarching pretentiousness. This isn't the worst album ever, but I also think that in 20 years Mayer will only be remembered on "Soft Rock of the 00's" compilations sold on late night tv.
