johnmOct 5, 2005it made me laugh. don't trust reviews from critics that say it's a big star rip off and then sing the praises of rap. lester bangs spins in his grave...

JayManOct 2, 2005This album is great! Yeah it has a few duds but any Big Star is Super Nova! Jody Stephens really stands out to me in terms of drumming, singing, and song writing. People will remember this record!

DrewMOct 5, 2005Uneven and only Lady Sweet sounds anything like Big Star. The problem is that we want it to sound 1974 and its 2005. Sometimes you just can't go back or too much has happened in the musician's lives to let them go back.

MichaelKOct 11, 2005Like most great albums, this one takes more than one listening to get it. It seems funny how some poeple don't think this sounds like Big Star but say how good they think 3rd is, which sounds less like Big Star than In Space. If only every reunited band could sound this good.

PeckSep 28, 2005About a 6 or 7. Just think, this could have been so much worse. There are some bad songs on here (and the appalling 'Makeover') but the strengths outweigh the weakness. P.S. Love Revolution is the best track. Sincere or not, it's fun as hell.

wxOct 28, 2005This record will make you cry. Maybe. The Star has fallen from atop the Christmas tree, but it's late January, and the whole thing should have been put away long ago. Get a broom.

JasonPSep 27, 2005This will get constantly slammed because it isn't #1 Record. And it's not. But it's still an enjoyable effort, and even the corniness and simplicity of some of the tunes grow on you; well, they at least did for me. Maybe in 30 years this will be a classic too. In a way, I'm glad they didn't try remaking their earlier albums.

BillboardThere is enough of the original DNA in the mix to make this a worthy listen for fans. [1 Oct 2005]

In Space is an album that should appeal to anyone who digs Alex Chilton; however, anyone expecting a Big Star album is going to be more than a bit puzzled by most of these tunes.
-
BlenderIt sounds as bitter and cynical as most of Chilton's solo stuff since Big Star originally imploded. [Oct 2005, p.134]
