May 21, 2019While the spunky, punky riffs of "Same Things Twice" and "Miracles" brim with the kind of energy that Idlewild possessed in droves in their early days, the visceral sensibilities of those early songs are also missing. Much of that, perhaps, is to do with Woomble's vocals on this record—all across the board, on both the faster tracks and the slower songs, his voice sounds worn down and tired.

Apr 8, 2019Interview Music is a record as dense and conflicted as the frontman’s gobbledygook would have us believe he is as a writer. Whereas before his depictions were flavorful and bolstered by solid REM-like rock songs from his surrounding team, here highlight pickings for intelligent insights are slim, and Idlewild as a whole sound lost and in the process of aging horribly.
-
Apr 8, 2019Bold, immersive, and not easy to pin down, Interview Music affords Idlewild the space to find renewal in new ideas, a record driven by conviction, collaboration and the urge towards communication.

UncutApr 4, 2019Idlewild throw together plenty of ideas--without much cohesion. [May 2019, p.29]

Apr 4, 2019They seem driven by the joy of making music great again. It won’t change the world, but record is a wonderful world all of their own.

Apr 4, 2019With Interview Music, Idlewild have made another beautifully crafted, memorable rock record while at the same time giving their sound space to evolve. If Everything Ever Written signaled the beginning of Idlewild MK II, then Interview Music finds them discovering just what the new Idlewild is capable of.
-
Apr 4, 2019Interview Music contains a sense of maturity and introspection, infusing the record with a quality that can only come from artists with a defined sense of who they are at their core.

Jan 8, 2022This was the first album in a long time which got me listening to Idlewild again. I find it solid if never reaching the heights of The Remote Part
