Beautifully sewn elements of folk, hip hop, and house into an eclectic mix that is given care, pacing, and soul

____ The album is full of different moods: here you will hear euphoric, cheerful compositions, and feel a gentle melancholy with its romantic phlegmatic sound. Even in one track you can come in contact with a wide range of opposing feelings and emotions.

____ "Knock Knock" is a fairly serious and multi-layered work, which does not deprive the ability to move in time to its rhythms.

Despite frequently falling into the typical house-bass-and-drum clichés, DJ Koze has made an album that is extremely adventurous and sonically pleasing.

Dj Koze is a master of the genre. His ear is able to help arrange a fantastic tapestry of found sounds, interpolations and house beats. This album isn't ever one thing, the magnificent "bonfire" re-purposes a spell binding bon iver classic "Calgary " for a psychedelic lush trance. Or "colors of autumn " that fuses house with rap in a way The Avalanches succeeded to do on "Wildflowers " ,aDj Koze is a master of the genre. Or "colors of autumn " that fuses house with rap in a way The Avalanches succeeded to do on "Wildflowers " ,a lively summer ready beat carries bars about a fading relationship. They are more traditional house songs such as "pick up" which sketters and pulses with the late night humidity of a packed club. "Moving in Liquid " is more experimental as he leans on his more unconventional "amygdala " choices. Overall this record is worth listening let alone owning. Possibly a 9 Expand

    He's arguably produced his near-masterpiece LP. [May 2018, p.114]

This is the kind of album you might find yourself less inclined to play all the way through than scroll through the tracklist and queue up songs at will, but there’s enough great music here that you could have a new favorite song every day.

It aims for the head more than it does the heart, and that's fine. It's an approach that makes it an easy album to appreciate, even if it is tremendously difficult to love.
