Kool Herc: Fertile Crescent is at its root empowering, challenging and subversive, most strikingly, it’s simply an incredibly rewarding listen.
  2. He wants to set his people on the right path and keeps thinking up explicit ways to say so. But none of them have gotten near that goal so far, not even theoretically, as they might if his skills included the ability to rise to actual hits, as opposed to pleasurable musicality, and also to sink to them.

Kool Herc: Fertile Crescent succeeds because it manages to balance Homeboy Sandman's unique delivery with fun, free-wheeling production.

Though Kool Herc is just eight songs and 27 minutes long, it's plenty challenging and weighty.

Fertile Crescent sees Homeboy Sandman adding another project to his growing library, and it's one worth repeated spins.

This beats are so new and different that I do not even have the vocabulary to describe the sound. Homeboy's great flow finishes it off. Cannot be a 10 because some of the lyrics are barely permissible, and the hooks are not very catchy beside a handful of song. "Dag, Philly Too,” is the best song on the album and 10 ten rap songs this year. Expand
