  1. An album that breaks little new ground, but further entrenches the Method as America's finest producers of dance music made for rock & roll people.

To Jordan and Kirkland's credit, they let their guest stars shine without sacrificing the Crystal Method sound. [18 Jan 2004]
  3. A mind-twisting collision of rock, techno and hip-hop.
  4. The Crystal brothers score low on originality, but they certainly know how to make cheaply pleasurable noise.
  5. There are too few surprises amid the usual, admittedly fun, rocktronic rave-ups.

[Their] big beats lack the sure-shot hooks of their 1997 debut. [Feb 2004, p.104]

The problem is not the lumbering, mid-tempo beats or the terrible lyrics (“Synthesizer, crystallizer, realizer”), although neither help. It’s the sense that you’ve heard every synthesized squelch and ambient breakdown before.

It's a definite mix between and logical progression from Vegas and Tweekend, combining the former's vocals and more upbeat feel with some of Tweekend's darker heavier songs. On occasion the vocal use seems just a little bit out of place, but this is rare. Legion of Boom contains some atypical loops, i.e. some really catchy guitar work by Wes Borland at the beginning of Born Too Slow, but keeps the same pumping, high-energy, making-you-want-to-dance feel of all of TCM's work. Awesome stuff. Expand

Same formula, a couple new loops and samples and there you got it. But wait!! This is still a very well done record. And I totally agree with "Billboard's" review at the top of the page. There's enough sparkling grooves here to make you forget the dirt. Collapse
