  • Summary: The singer-songwriter recorded this strongly political (and anti-Bush) ten-song set in just two weeks earlier this year.

  1. The sheer brazenness of this collection is refreshing after years of timidity in the upper echelons of the pop world. [6 May 2006]
  2. Young hasn't sounded this fired up in years.
  3. A revelation, brimming with passion and some of the best melodies Young has penned in the last 30 years. [Jul 2006, p.113]
  4. Living With War's short gestation benefits Young's performance, inspiring him to make his loudest, rawest release of new material since at least Ragged Glory, maybe even Rust Never Sleeps.
  5. With few exceptions, Young's own "Ohio" being one of them, moment-specific protest music tends to dry up and blow away. But that's for the future. For now, Living With War accomplishes exactly what it sets out to accomplish, loudly.
  6. [The songs] manage to be unified in a way that Young wanted Greendale to be but didn't quite pull off, yet they also stand on their own and are, overall, more memorable than those on Prairie Wind.
  7. Really, what's to be gained from simplistic sloganeering like, "We don't need no more lies!" [20 May 2006, p.33]

Love it! Toe-tapping dirty guitar work and conviction of the record is very refreshing. The singers really add to the songs. Love when Neil does things like this. His best in maybe 10 years. Expand

No, it's not a 10, but it's an easy 9, and its easily Neil's best since Sleeps with Angels. Great melodies, lots of passion, and excellent performances. Roger and Out is the only song that sounds underwritten. Not much to dislike about this baby. Expand

A most welcome blistering attack and righteous indignation at Bush and his cronies. Let's Impeach The President is worth the price of the album alone!!!!!!!!! Expand

The songs in my opinion were very bland. But hey, we all have our opinions. Hope you enjoy it, but I'll stick to his previous albums which were very good. That's kind of obvious. :) Collapse
