I don’t really care about his commercial success because he serves quality over quantity and non of this people and “critics” is honest just blinded by hate and trends... people are ready do everything for clicks. Album is full of jams. Very personal. Full of fun. Flannel is his Mirrors 2.0. All this BlackTwitter and Janet’s deluded mean fans became brave behind their screens because they can. Music speaks for itself and does it very well. It is mix of pop, country, rnb and still Justin’s amazing style he build for this 22 years. This long in show business and still pulls 300-350k plus amazing SBHT coming will give him more boost. Really recommend this album to everyone who likes Justin’s previous works but this time with a twist. He is not for fame and commercial success anymore and he proves it on this album. He has nothing to prove after 22 years. He is happy singer, artist, actor, husband and father! Jessica and Silas both of them are part of this powerful and full of happiness project for his family and faithful fans of his music. He is not faking nor pretending that what makes this album even valuable to anyone who respects his work and doesn’t remember this Janet's incident. She has move on but her fans and BlackTwitter only remember this and punishing him for her own mistake of her try hard way to overshade Madonna’s and Britney’s scandalous kiss at VMA 2003. Didn’t work out. But easier is to blame young guy who started his career just after he left his boy band. Janet should go to TV and apologies and at least explain what really happened there not hiding! She is guilty of her own moves and people need to understand. Justin never wanted do anything against her. This show was only her own choice and decision. Justin even apologised for this at least once and he is alright with it. His music is better than ever. Man of the Woods with a twist. Extremely well produced. He is proud of it. I am proud of it. I’m glad is out! Again, ahead of its time! Expand

Isto, é a obra prima ''Man Of The Woods''! Expand

I love this album. Justin is one of the only artists in the day and age that takes risks and make original music that you would hear on the radio, blending the country vibes and combining them with RnB and Grove to make great songs. Higher Higher, Say Something, Filthy and Livin' Off The Land are the best songs on the album, but the rest are great too.

I was skeptical going into it, but honestly Justin has done it again and then some! Highlights: Morning Light, Higher Higher, Montana, Flannel. He takes you on a journey with this one. Starting with Filthy through to Young Man, those songs could not be more different, yet the album is still cohesive. If you listen through the whole album, it'll win you over by the end. Enjoy it.

However, some of the tracks just did not work with this body of work (maybe on another album). I just kept thinking, "What is the point of this song when the sound is nothing like the others?"

Don't get me wrong, I do not mind if an album is not sonically cohesive. But with this album, some tracks were just in their own world separate from the other tracks, not having any similarities to the others.

However, I did enjoy the majority of this album. Good job Justin Timberlake on attempting to combine Americana and funk/pop/r&b.

The writing is basic, even a little cheap-ish here and there. Some songs are just straight-on awful (I can't stand 'Montana', the title track isn't exactly my idea of a good song, and the closer 'Young Man', intended as an ode to his son, turns out to be extremely annoying), while others start off really well but degrade as they progress ('Wave' is amazing and all, until the chorus comes in.. WHAT HAPPENED?). The collaborations are decent, but they don't, in any way, match the expectations I had about them (I honestly expected 'Say Something' with Chris Stapleton to be a much harder-hitting song). The good songs on there, for me, are 'Filthy' (which, by the way, doesn't fit the mood nor the sound of the whole thing.. strange thing for a lead single, right?), 'Sauce', 'Supplies', 'Flannel', 'Livin' Off the Land', and 'The Hard Stuff' (even though some lines in that last one still made me cringe).

In conclusion, "Man of the Woods" is, without any doubt, a disappointment: overly-long, lacking lots of depth, and flying all over the place. Maybe JT should drop The Neptunes, and get back in the studio with Timbaland to bring sexy back?

A terrible bore. He gets points for a cohesive album, and a few interesting sounds here and there, but overall, this was a very disappointing record. Sounds that go nowhere, and lyrics/songs that just drag on and on without any purpose/destination. Timberlake can certainly do better.

Not a very enjoyable album. I've listened to it all the way through a few times, trying to give it a fair chance, but nothing sticks. The energy of his previous efforts just doesn't seem to be there, nor are any of the usual catchy hooks or dance-ability. We're left with a limp album that doesn't even make much effort to be topical.

Even the melodies do not stick out nearly as much as on past projects. JT occasionally does tripplet flows and throws in some adlibs on this one, which I don't think fit well with the musical direction he is taking (e.g. Midnight Summer Jam.. literally could put Future in the beginning part). I get that JT was attempting to blend electro pop and Americana, but, IMO, Pharrell and Timbaland's production don't serve the songs and the songs themselves lack any pop hooks, lyrics, or vocal performances that are memorable. I would enjoy the title track more if he didn't rip off the guitar groove from "Walk On The Wild Side" by Lou Reed. Aside from those, the album is a fair disappointment. Wow. WOOOWWWW!!!! This was not a good album at all. I honestly thought that I would enjoy this album. But, I only enjoyed maybe 3 songs out of the 16 on the project. Yeah, it was bad, didn't enjoy it at all. 3/10 for me.

This not my favorite Justin Timberlake album but I still really enjoyed listening to this album. I especially loved the songs Say Something, Filthy, Man of the Woods, and Supplies.

This album is pure fire. He managed to bring all the elements that characterize his roots into his own musical world getting to create something unique.

Best album of JT. Midnight Summer Jam, Breeze Off

An album so poorly produced it is in parts physically painful to listen to. The melding of country/folk and electronic r and b does not work on any level. Timberlake vocals are still good though, and his lyrics are Ok, but the production makes this album unlistenable.

FutureSex/LoveSounds was one of the best Pop/RnB Albums of the 2000s. And now we are at the point where I can not listen to him for only one song. Sad.. Why doesnt he want to work with Timbaland anymore? That duo was awesome as f...

Maybe it's me, but I feel that Justin Timberlake is beginning to run out of ideas. Unfortunately, it's the reality for the person heralded as the pop prince.

A very good album though timberlake says that its his most personal album, he just made it for his wife and son, its prettily shown in Young Man, but he didnt actually go out from the form, so at least 7 songs deserve your attention if you see this album. It is quite uncertain what exactly Timberlake tried to achieve with this Album, he failed whatsoever.

His worst album, and it was so week to be considered as a Comeback after 5 years, he better release his next album sooner and work on it! And I hope he work with Timbaland more

Although he’s not really mixing musical genres as originally promised, he’s mixing up some music and lyrics that shouldn’t really go together, which makes this one crazy peanut butter cup of an album.

Man of the Woods is not an outright disaster but it is a significant disappointment--a record too preoccupied with image, volte face and forced “REAL” to fully engage as a coherent piece of craftsmanship.

Throughout, Man Of The Woods seesaws brilliantly between pop and country. [Apr 2018, p.116]
