Although the whole album by Killing Joke - "MMXII" has a strongly apocalyptic and at times terrifying tone - but also you can't dismiss noticing its scrolling post punk and industrial metal motives. The album reveals its best qualities if we treat it as a whole, than if we take into judgement the separate fragments - which are taken out of context may seem at least strange.

The lyrics are still full of cutting observations and social critiques (take the anti-capitalism slant of "Corporate Elect," for example), but the urgency driving 2010's Absolute Dissent has shifted into something more akin to a sense of anticipation.

At times, strangely purging - and almost euphoric - most of MMXII still sounds like the end of civilisation as we know it. [Jun 2012, p.106]

The overall vibe is: It's a time for extremes, for ear damage, and KJ--ever exemplary in reactivation--deliver 'em in spades. [May 2012, p.83]
