Not, bad. I guess I personally had a hard time getting over the chick voclas but, once I did I liked it. Morningwood are sort of part of that powerpop music movment but they are a good deal harder than there counterparts. There is some fun to have with this album.

'Take Off Your Clothes' is a wicked track, but if you take that away, nothing really stands out.

A decent attempt at getting kids to move to sexually charged care free tunes. Marred by the lack of diversity within the instruments, and song structure. Ultimately it tries to pay homage to the better moments in punk and alternative (The Stooges, Nirvana, Pixies, etc...) but ends up sounding like an anemic rip off. Key Tracks: Nu Rock, Everybody Rules, Take off Your Clothes,

  1. Morningwood does a great job at imitating, and they have spirit. But their spirit does not translate well to good listening, nor does it provoke the underwear-dancing and air guitar it hopes to achieve.
  2. Morningwood still feels like calculated fluff, even if it's calculated fluff that's mildly fun.

It's hard to take the band too seriously, but the songs are debaucherous fun. [14 Jan 2006]
