  • Summary: The ninth studio album from the Latin sensation is a hip-shaking, club-rocking collection of dance pop jams, with a couple heart-moving ballads thrown in.

Martin largely shuns easy romanticism for more assertive messages that celebrate liberation and diversity, themes that can be associated with his coming out last year.

On this album his usual exhortations to seize life's pleasures mingle with coming-out manifestos, and he smiles through them all.

Martin rarely transcends the narrow parameters of commercial Latin music, but the sincerity of his vision places him one step ahead of the competition.

Theoretically, this loosening of expectations would give him some freedom to roam on Musica + Alma + Sexo, and it does to the extent that he does not feel compelled to devote the record to the English language.

The common theme of liberation and freedom on Martin's new album are clearly result of his coming out last year. For this, I respect his work on this album. I'm glad he's developing more as an artist, but the result isn't that impressive. If I had to compare this to popular music now, it really doesn't stand up to anything I'm hearing currently. It just gets lost amongst all the other pop songs playing right now. There's maybe 2 worthy singles and the rest of the album is virtually forgettable. Collapse
