Natural History is at its best when it's at its most focused.

Natural History marks a step forward for the band, a step in the right direction, towards a more sophisticated sound than merely muscular noise rock.

This record is a perfect soundtrack for any drunken destruction party, tantrum, or any other moment of great primitivism.

One of the most refreshing rock albums of the year, a collection of songs that advocate a form of moshpit populism that, even if you don't quite get it immediately, will eventually win you over with big, sweaty hug after big, sweaty hug.

Nupping proved it, and Natural History amplifies the point that Dope Body are a completely unimpeachable unit from a musical standpoint: able to fit in with contemporaries while still sounding undoubtedly like themselves, carrying on the proud outsider-rock tradition of their hometown.

Despite its party-hard attitude, Natural History has a thoughtful, searching soul.

Natural History [is] something of a stop-start effort rather than an unqualified success, but if Dope Body can keep playing around with elements like the grinding, crackling hook of "Out of My Mind," it'll be interesting to see what a third album can bring.

Natural History is an invigorating listen, which may say as much about today as it does about the band.

They may have changed up their game, but Dope Body still nail the sweet spot between savagery and self-awareness.
