They haven’t let the game dictate what they can and can’t do and, in the end, have produced an album that can proudly sit alongside the rest of their discography. Not just as an unusual curio, but as a solid piece of work of that will leave any budding space-explorer wide-eyed with wonder.

Apocalyptic, transcendental and drenched in a sense of pure epic-ness, here we get that wonderful rarity of a soundtrack that doesn’t just match the artist’s usual output but one that stands as some of its best. Grab your space boots and take the ride.

It's an album best-judged as its monumental whole: the sound of endless possibilities. [18 Jun 2016, p.52]

Sounding like a cross between Explosions In The Sky and Blade Runner’s director cut, No Man’s Sky may be the backing track to an untenable make-believe world, but it’s also an example of the vast and powerful reach of well-placed series of notes. [No. 133, p.61]

At nearly two hours, these two discs are an embarrassment of riches for the 65daysofstatic devotee and most likely sufficient for anyone casually interested in the band behind No Man’s Sky.

65daysofstatic's soundtrack to the highly anticipated No Man's Sky Game loads up on pile-driving guitar sequences reminiscent of Mogwai, but it's industrial-sized programming, moments of tranquility and chilling electronica confirm the Sheffield quartet's visionary ambitions. [Jul 2016, p.67]

65daysofstatic have captured the sound of space as one of excitement and exhilaration: whether you experience it in isolation or as part of the game it is certainly one worth listening to.

Best explanationIt's not just a soundtrack, it's a whole new album. 65dos made beautiful album where they mixed up everything they do best. Best explanation for fans: imagine One Time For All Times + We Were Exploding Anyway + new ideas and sound and you will get this. It's interesting, fresh and complicated music which is easy to listen apart from game. Wild Light was just a beginning of new style. Expand

A Good choice mood setting music together with a good colour palate and likeable characters and a well thought up looting system all blend together to make this one of the best space exploration games on console. As long as it can provide a continuous variety of things to do and explore and DOES NOT FALL INTO THE TOO REPETITIVE CLASS LIKE SO MANY NEXT GEN GAMES than this could quite well turn into a MASTERPIECE. ONLY 1 PROBLEM >>> Will I live to the ripe old age of 350 so I can finish & make my way to the centre of the universe? I can at least dream :) Collapse
