One of the worst albums ever. Majority of songs sound like they were throwaways of his previous albums and he just compiled them in this album. It seems like he’s losing his vocal ability and the production felt so cheap and it feels like he doesn’t have money to hire producers lmao. Atp he should just retire from music because nobody is really listening.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After almost three years, Zayn comes back to show where he is heading, musically and artistically speaking. And after the underwhelming (and disappointing from a fan’s perspective) welcome he received with 'Icarus Falls', one could've thought he'd go to a more commercial album with radio friendly tracks that could hit #1 with the right promotion. Maybe something to get some attention like 'My Everything' or even 'Dangerous Woman' by Ariana Grande, just to then spin things up with more experimental things.

And even if he did take some things into account (like keeping things short with only 11 tracks), Zayn, once again, went against those expectations and did what he felt like doing. Because, even if he stayed on his ground with sounds he's explored before on his debut and second album, he's definitely moving towards the direction (no pun intended) of the R&B artist he aspires to be.

In fact, he has perfected his craft and you can hear a sound that's completely him, even if there are clear inspirations from other artists. Especially on tracks like 'Calamity', 'Connexion', **** and 'River Road'.

He also finds the time to talk about love in the most sentimental way, without being corny. Because, as he's talking about marrying someone (presumably supermodel girlfriend Gigi Hadid) on 'When Love's Around', he gives his soul through his soft voice and transports you to this place where you're at the highest of heights with the person you love.

This also happens with 'Tightrope', a fan favourite in which he expresses how ready he is to fall for someone, completely, with no reserve.

But hadn’t he already fallen before the Bollywood-inspired song, I wonder? I answer myself, ‘Yes, he had’, and you can see that in the sexual songs, which some people criticise, because they haven’t gotten their head around the fact that Zayn is a 28-year-old man whose journey in a boyband ended almost six years ago.

It could’ve been shocking then with ‘Mind of Mine’, which some called overly sexual, but I feel his sex songs aren't just for the sake of singing explicit lyrics (no shade to anyone in particular, I bop to those kind of songs too!), but actually about experiencing an exchange of energy with someone you love.

I can especially see that with more detail on songs like 'Sweat' and even 'Windowsill', which show that sex, in a song, can be romantic, too.

So, if you’re wondering if this is his most personal album, as it was said on a press release, I’d say, ‘Yes’. Because, even if he’s talking about his feelings for someone else (with some hints to his mental health and the place he’s at right now), opening up about what you see in others is not as easy as it sounds.

If you don’t believe me, ask Taylor Swift.

This album is so well put together, his most mature to date. Zayn's vocal is ethereal as always but to me what stands out is his confidence in his own style, his own vision. He created the Zayn sound, especially with the touch of his Desi roots in Tightrope, not many artist can have his own sound. I'm so proud of Zayn!

A very fancy and sexy album, but with poor production. Mind of Mine continues to be his best album yet.

honestly this was really poor executed and less thought of album, some tracks like outside, windowsill, tightrope and better are good and can be played more but other tracks are so lame and meh. can't see this album being successful on charts and sales.

A masterpiece. It is sad that stans of his former colleagues are review bombing such a beautiful album. His songs are complex and have pathos & angst. His style and showcase of his vocal ability is just increasing yet the press is being harsher. By far, the only musical genius to come out of that former boyband.

One of the best albums I've heard so far in 2021. In it I highlight songs like "Sweat" which has an energetic percussive sound and brings back fond memories of Phil Collins's "In The Air Tonight", Unf ** kwitable It is a song about self love and "River Road" which is a beautiful poem to close the album.

Favoritos: Sweat, Tighrope, When Love’s Around.

his voice is incredible but i am so tired of hearing him sing only about sex and marijuana in every album. both things are great, of course, but the man needs to innovate, take risks. that’s something common for males in the industry, people never call them out for not being innovative, they expect only women to be.

I expected so much because i love Zayns voice and i loved Mind of Mine and Icarus Falls, but this album is kinda boring. I'm sorry, but while his voice is amazing as always, i would never listen to this album again because it just wasn't catchy or memorable for me personaly. Hope he'll do well though!

I really don't understand the "directions", just because he was in his favorite band they are going to give him an excellent score. The album is not bad, but neither is it for this high score. There are other R&B albums that are extremely superior. He stays on a yellow and null note.

Great music production, vocal always on point. What a way to open an album with slow rap/spoken words with Calamity. Surprisingly, I love it so much, it sets the vibe to this album. What a way to open an album with slow rap/spoken words with Calamity. Surprisingly, I love it so much, it sets the vibe to this album. Better, absolute banger, made me feel so nervous for the next track because it set the bar so high. However, Outside doesn't disappoint because yet it is another heartbreaking break up song that is so relatable and I absolutely love it. Move on to the next song, Vibez and When Love's Around lack of lyrical depth. But the tunes and flow still enjoyable. I feel bumped but as soon as Connexion start, I felt like he nailed it with this song. Moving on, the theme is obviously about sex so it is acceptable that he loves to sing about it so much. This is the track where I think should be his next single because it's so good. The production, great, the vocal, great, the lyrics, great. It doesn't miss anything, Sweat is definitely my favourite of this album. Reminds me 80s RnB music. Goosebumps! The next one is **** this one hold a very strong message, he's happy now, he's literally the unbothered king. Next, Windowsill is jaw dropping track of the album. The hook is so strong, vocal chef's kiss, the rap part is meh but enjoyable, two last line of the rap part is killer tho. Another heartfelt banger and honestly the most beautiful song is Tightrope. He sampled the Urdu part from a classic song, I don't know the name. I cried listening to it, every single time. The vibe is exceptional. The last song of the album, River Road need a standing ovation, very honest lyrics. Showing off his vocal power. So good. Sweat, River Road, Outside, Better & Tightrope are, no cap, very solid song of the album. Doesn't regret one bit when I spend to buy the album. Both in iTunes and the physical album. If the vinyl ever comes out I'll definitely get it too. Zayn Malik is a serious artist and doesn't really care about the rankings and charts that he really deserves. To anyone that complaining he talks about sex alot yada yada, fock you and your tasteless a$$. This album should won album of the year. Expand

The album’s most tolerable songs fixate on the physical, a pulsating goo of slow drums and reverbed descriptions of skin mashed against skin.

Nobody Is Listening doubles down on this expertly cultivated, look-but-don’t-touch, this-far-and-no-further brand. The good news is that, as an artist, Zayn keeps refining. The songwriters may be many here, but the songs suit him more and more.
