Matchbox 20 has never made a record as cheerful or appealing or satisfying as this.

Every song here goes for immediate payoff – as Thomas broadcasts on "Radio," they have been built for lifetimes.

It's unclear what the band has been doing during its lengthy hiatus (their last full-length was released in 2002), but keeping up with current music trends was evidently not on the to-do list.

Frontman Rob Thomas has not lost his fastball as a craftsman. Listeners will be humming several songs off "North" before the second chorus even begins, whether they like it or not.

North seems destined to forever relegate Matchbox Twenty into the next generation of unremarkable dad rock.
  9. Though it is far from perfect and has far more filler than one would hope, North is indeed a fine effort.

For one, it follows the trends of 2012 like using computerized sounds which is something that I am not a fan of personally. That being said, I enjoy She’s So Mean, Parade, and Our Song. The rest of the album borders somewhere between mediocre and great. Full Review »

They band is "selling out" sadly...looking to hit it off on the radio and the mainstream...and this album achieved that in a way. This is basically a continuation of Rob Thomas's solo career. I can't say that I particularly enjoyed it and I didn't buy it when it came out. Full Review »
