  • Summary: What good's an Eminem movie without an Eminem soundtrack? It's not all Slim Shady here, though, as the soundtrack album incorporates other artists (Xzibit, Macy Gray, Jay-Z, Nas) in a mix of old and new tracks.

  1. Features only a couple new Em ditties, but they're gems.... Better yet, most of the rest of the disc is made up of solid, original material.
  2. The top dawg MCs lend the soundtrack much more credibility than predecessors such as Menace II Society soundtrack or The Deep Cover soundtrack.
  3. Eminem contributes three new songs, all self-produced, which happen to be three of the most ferocious hip-hop songs ever recorded.
  4. Wisely, Slim Shady has focused on quality over quantity and delivers a trio of his best-ever tunes.

Mathers slips only when he tries to play out the movie's rags-to-riches vibe with his friends.
  6. Eminem's urgent radio hit 'Lose Yourself', you already know. It's excellent.... The two other new Eminem tracks '8 Mile' and 'Rabbit Run' are on the money, too, the latter being the shortest, shoutiest thing he's ever done. Elsewhere, things get more patchy.
  7. With better production and more focus, 8 Mile could have been a hip-hop version of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. Instead, it's a frustrating collection that bogs down two of the best songs of Eminem's career with a lot of interchangeable filler.
