  • Summary: The soundtrack to the movie about Notorious B.I.G. features many of his singles and new songs sung by Jay-Z, Santogold, Jadakiss, Faith Evans and the late rapper's son CJ.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 5 out of 7
  2. Negative: 0 out of 7
  1. The irony of the Notorious soundtrack is that it may actually be a better "Greatest Hits" album than his actual "Greatest Hits" album, even though it's not presented as such.
  2. The three raw but riveting demos that conclude the album illustrate how close to fully formed Biggie's style was even as a teen.
  3. The Notorious film soundtrack not only assembles the best of the Notorious B.I.G.'s work, it includes gems like the rapper's first demo tape, two new tracks from Jay-Z and a 'One More Chance' remix featuring B.I.G.'s son, CJ Wallace.
  4. The soundtrack to the Notorious B.I.G. biopic Notorious is a welcome surprise. Selections from the past (a bunch of old hits plus some wonderfully raw demos) and the present (Jay-Z's infectious collabo with Santogold) along with a hint of the legacy's future (an appearance from Biggie's son, Christopher "CJ" Wallace, Jr.) are sequenced in a way that avoids any of the bombast or misguided majesty of Born Again or Duets.
  5. casual fans of the Notorious B.I.G. won’t have much use for this soundtrack to director George Tillman Jr.'s biopic of the late Brooklyn rapper. Hardcore Biggie devotees, though, will relish a handful of rarities.
  6. Danny Elfman’s Notorious Theme feels stranded between two worlds, while the Legacy remix of 'One More Chance' is a perplexing and disturbing Pro Tools-era creation in which Biggie’s 12-year-old son rhymes back and forth with his father, lewd lyrics and all.
  7. Tossing in "Hypnotize" and a few other classics, the soundtrack to the new Notorious B.I.G. biopic plays like a greatest-hits record for an artist who doesn't need one.
