Miranda never disappoints. Palomino is a wonderful record, I like it more than her previous album (which was great, don't get me wrong). It sounds authentic and it's pure alternative country! Miranda is a rebel, but what a brilliant one.

Lambert delivers another solid album proving why she continues to be the reigning queen of country music. Highlights include: A more upbeat version of Waxahachie, originally released last year on The Marta Tapes with co-writers Jon Randall and Jack Ingram. Lead single If I Was a Cowboy. And instant classic Carousel co-written by Lambert with Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby. And instant classic Carousel co-written by Lambert with Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby. You won’t find a dud in any of the album’s 15 tracks. And at the same time, the excellent songs come together into a cohesive, wanderlust filled album weaving together stories of travelers and the people they meet. This album is a must listen. Expand

I really enjoyed this record. The tunes, story telling and production is just so memorable and earnest. Some of faves include If I was a cowboy, country money, strange, geraldine, scenes and ill be loving you. The closer, carousel is also really good

Good but not great. This is not a bad album but she sure didn't top Wildcard. I thought there were too many slow songs. The songs could have been written way better. When I got to the end I couldn't believe that was it. It just falls flat in many ways. Not a bad effort from Miranda but she could have done so much better.

Her eighth album, Palomino, thematically portrays life on the thrills of an open road and the many characters along the way. Songs like Scenes, Waxahachie, and a cover of Mick Jagger’s Wandering Spirit fully illustrate the vagabond lifestyle as Lambert proclaims “I’m a guitar string and a denim jacket if I don’t need it I don’t pack it” on Tourist. Album opener Acting Up brings the swagger we’ve come to expect from Lambert “Even Tiger Woods couldn’t swing it this good, acting up”. Bringing the high energy tunes like Geraldine and Music City Queen with The B-52’s. If I Was A Cowboy, Strange, I’ll Be Loving You deliver stick in your head lyrics for days. But as the album draws to a close do we have the ballad Carousel, the story of a woman, whose former life and former love, remain a bitter, sad secret to the life she returns to in Nacogdoches. A tear jerking reminder, that a bit of sadness looms even whilst during the wild adventures of the open road. Expand

Lambert frequently sings in the first person, so we identify her with these restless women. That makes for deliciously gossipy fun reading between the lines about her marriage and divorce. It doesn’t matter if Lambert is truthful or therapeutic in her songs. Her ability to express her feelings as if they convey some profound truth counts more.

It’s a scattershot travelogue, idealized and hopeful, bright with giddy pleasures, welled tears, and some of her best-ever songwriting.

The different sounds and scenes add up to a rich, complex album, one where Lambert finds the perfect blend of the writerly The Weight of These Wings and the breeziness of Wildcard.
