I haven't been a listener of Sixx: AM's music for very but when I heard this I was blown away James Michael's lead vocals on this album are truly brilliant and it is one of the best albums that I have heard for a long time.

Their sharpest, biggest and best album to date. [7 May 2016, p.51]

The ambition on this first part of Prayers for the Damned is admirable. Better still, they often manage to take this roiling outrage and shape it into something melodramatically satisfying, an achievement that suggests why Sixx had no trouble saying goodbye to Mötley Crüe.

[Rise] sounds like it’s been designed solely with American radio very much in mind. Things pick up quickly from there though, You Have Come To The Right Place, puts things very much back on track, wilfully over-the-top, a grand façade covering the band’s broken veneer.
