I grew up incredibly close to Penguin Cafe Orchestra music thanks to cinema, and I remember it would be the music that gave color to my life as a kid (I was a very peculiar kid). Now I have the opportunity to reconnect to those roots by hearing the new album of what those sounds of my infancy has become: Penguin Cafe. Now I have the opportunity to reconnect to those roots by hearing the new album of what those sounds of my infancy has become: Penguin Cafe. I'm incredibly happy with what I'm hearing, but it is also something that feels that it stayed in my childhood. Nevertheless, the potential Arthur Jeffes has to bring me back to my dear and sweet inner child is so big, so important, so present, that I'm willing to revisit all of Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Penguin Cafe too. I'm sure there will be pieces of excitement that will become a happy part of my daily life.
For now, the opening of this album is precious, it continues being a true and organic exploration to what music truly is, even if in some parts this exploration is more adrift than paddling to a specific direction, there is so much life in here to hold on to. Hopefully this orchestra finds the solid ground where they can catapult their music to so much happiness, so much joy and plenitude. I trust them.

Listen and you’ll feel a smile tugging at the corner of your mouth. The music is rigorous but fun.

Rain Before Seven… is designed to feel hopeful and positive, reassuring rather than challenging: music for the world that should or could be, rather than the grim reality. But it’s ultimately a vision of a heaven where nothing much happens.
