I was excited for this album and I really thought she could beat Revival, but every Song sounds exactly the same.

A song about a married by a singer who actually can’t “sing”. She needs to not release more music and sort her life out, her jealous and constantly playing the victim is showcased perfectly in this album. BORING BORING BORING

Nothing special. Not worth wasting your time on listening to it, let alone purchasing it.

Das ist eines der schlechtesten Alben aller Zeiten, das einzig gute Lied darin ist „lose you to love me“. Wer auch immer das, als bestes Album beschreibt, ist wohl schwerhörig.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Most of the songs are rejects from other artists, and Selena falls flat in bringing even half the talent and magic the leaked demos from the original artists had. Most of the songs sound the same and anyone could have sung them. All generic love and heartbreak songs, not an ounce of personal feeling to them. How are you going to have your title track not even be your song? It literally sounds like an album that a first year Disney star would release. Sorry. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I expected rare to be decent since she had taken a long break from music, and she had scary experiences from lupus and a kidney transplant. The album cover is very low quality and basic. I expected better, it seemed as if this was made on picsart. As I was listening to this album, i notice songs started repeating, some quickly made lyrics and beats. I could tell some of these songs were just simply fillers, which is bad for an album, especially one that took so long to make. The production wasn't great, again, songs sounded similar lyric and beat wise. Selena tried some new styles within this album, however she is better of sticking with straight pop/edm, like, "love me like a love song" and "wolves". After going to mid album, I noticed she started sampling other popular songs. She sampled Cassie's "Me & U" on her track "crowded room". Her song "Ring" is also sampled, AND Camila cabellos "havana". Her song "let me get me" samples ninhos "putana". Her song "fun" samples jon bellions "JT". Other songs could be sampled, however I do not notice anymore out of my head.

Selena brags about breaking hearts and burning toast in a toaster? Low quality lyrics even though Julia Michaels helped on this album, I see Julia Michaels inspiration throughout this album, and I think Julia Michael's not a great producer.

Her song "ring" sounds like shes talking about being manipulative, "I'm breakin' hearts like a heart attack
Got him right where the carats at
Wrapped 'round my finger like a ring, ring, ring
They just like puppets on a string, string, string" Ring makes me feel gross, again, sounds like shes being manipulative with whoever she was in a relationship with. Shew, this album is a mess.

The average song on this album had 5 extra writers, 6 writers including selena herself. I couldn't find a song I liked. This album could've went somewhere if it was produced better. The high ratings are coming from her fans only, this album doesn't deserve a high rating due to its repetitive, sampling and quickly produced songs.

La mayoría de canciones poseen letras repetitivas, el sonido se vuelve tedioso en algunas ocasiones, es increíble que le haya tomado más de 4 años su regreso y no haya evolucionado musicalmente

honestly? it was underwhelming. there are only 2 memorable songs and one of them is a song about her married ex moving on without her. despite the relationship being short and toxic in reality. most of the songs feature overly repetitive or onomatopoeic lyrics. not her best work.

Her best work to date. The composition, the production, the vocals just absolutely flawless and breathtaking. Selena truly knows how to put out her best music, her overall message is the most beautiful touch of this album.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think this album broke all the expectations we had about Selena, it is an album with spectacular sounds and lyrics, without neglecting the prominence that Gomez has in each song with his particular voice. It is a new Selena, it is a definitely different era and since Revival, she is renewing with her music and proving that she is one of the greatest pop singers of the moment. He achieved her first number one with "Lose You To Love Me", a song in which she left her heart. She is a big one. Expand

Can’t sing, can’t write, can’t produce, can’t dance, can’t perform. Literally the most talentless artist on planet Earth. She should be thankful to Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift all her life because she would be Vanessa Hudgens 2.0 without them.

Rare continually teases intriguing forays into leftfield pop, but so many of the album’s experiments come off as just that, without ever crystallizing with memorable hooks.

The record she has delivered to kickstart a new decade is a career defining release, and from a pop star who is firmly back on top of her game.

While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
