    Hmmm, you know I think I might just prefer this to 'Narkopop', this has more of its own personality. Album peak 'Rausch 5' is one of the most essential 10 minutes of listening of 2018 so far; unsettling, compelling, mesmeric.

    More than any other Gas album Rausch captures the exhilaration one can feel deep in the woods, walking for far too long, marching ever forward without ever looking back. [Jun 2018, p.56]

    Its arc is more satisfying than those of Narkopop or Konigsförst, though it lacks either of those albums’ sense of vastness. It certainly pales next to Pop and the underloved Zauberberg, which I’ve always felt were tied for the title of Voigt’s masterpiece.
