This is an illuminating and captivating insight into the world of Zero 7. Far from being coffee table fodder, it provides a near perfect chill out soundtrack - easy to relax to, but always rewarding closer inspection, especially deep in the small hours.
-
This disc does gather the duo's most-known material, including "Destiny," "Distractions," "In the Waiting Line," and "Polaris," all of which were licensed for several compilations and/or used in advertisements.
-
Chill out maestros prove they have some different tricks in their locker.
-
If you peer hard enough, there are. Subtly, slow-burningly, Zero 7's wispy, placid emissions reveal charm and interest value; even the occasional surprise.
-
Record is all the Zero 7 anyone could ask for--all killer, no filler.
-
Most people should pick up Zero 7's full length Simple Things for a solid atmospheric album. If a few more uptempo songs won't do you any harm, this compilation is not so bad for your backyard.
