Red Earth & Pouring Rain is a haunting track. The album marks a departure from Islands featuring more synth and electro. The effect is stirring and shows what the band can do in addition to their accomplished largely acoustic debut. Highly recommend.

Ultimately, it is a decent return from a band who continue to show promise.

There’s nothing that really connects here; no flash of originality to distinguish them from any number of stadium emoters riffing on fantasies of the open road.

The intro to the title track points more toward Foreigner, an impression that continues on the album as dull keyboards fill the spaces once plugged by more interesting acoustic arrangements. [Aug 2016, p.108]
