    The album is good but I think that's something missing......................

    The boxset is vast. I'm a big fan and the majority of this is treasure trove stuff but I still wouldn't see myself revisiting it that often. Many of the performances miss the spark of the bands real live energy (see the Olympia rehearsals album for an example of this). I guess these were somewhat rigid performances at times, played in front of TV cameras or at least in a very controlledThe boxset is vast. The more concise "best of the box" style release is definitely one I come back to. Fans will enjoy but might be a bit too deep to soon for casuals or newcomers.… Expand

    If nine discs of REM is too much for the wallet, the collection is available as a two-CD highlights pack which includes a full disc of sessions, and a second disc focusing on a chronological selection of live broadcasts. Recommended, any which way. [Dec 2018, p.95]
