Alternative PressApr 21, 2011When Bayside's Anthony Raneri pops up on "Texas Mickey," it's just the cherry on top of yet another consistently great Silverstein record. [May 2011, p.96]
-
Apr 22, 2011Rescue is certainly highlighted by its quality tracks, but there is unfortunately a fair amount of filler in what proves to be a merely decent release by this band.
-
Apr 28, 2011Old fans will lap Rescue up (and rightly so), but there's not much on offer here to entice fresh ears and gain new fans.
-
Jun 24, 2011A small number of bands has continued to carry that torch in an effort to find places for innovation and elbow room for fresh sounds without coming off as cheesy or hollow. Silverstein is one of those bands, and with Rescue, they've crafted another great record.
-
Apr 26, 2011With this hybrid sound in their arsenal, Silverstein don't need to worry about reinventing the wheel, but rather are able to think about refining the very good wheel they've been selling for over a decade. While this approach probably isn't going to make new fans out of anyone who just doesn't get what the band is going for, it certainly makes Rescue an easy sell for the initiated.
-
Kerrang!May 2, 2011In Silverstein's hands--a decade and five albums deep now--these very same, well-worn tricks work surprisingly well and it speaks volumes for the Ontario five-piece that this, their Hopeless records debut, fizzles with life and vitality from start to finish. [23 Apr 2011, p.51]
-
May 2, 2011For all its polish and sonic approachability, this is no sell-out record. Rescue may go down easy, but at the album's core, it's still an appealingly bitter pill.
