Nov 18, 2017The album is beautiful, full of grief, but she made something really beautiful with all of her sadness. With production from SebastiAn and Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homen-Christo, it’s an amazing record, also, all of the songs were written by Charlotte herself, except the track ‘Songbird in a Cage’ which was written by Paul McCartney, and I think that that’s the worst song on the record.

Nov 27, 2017I absolutely love that album. There is so much melancholy in the lyrics, while the upbeat sound is mesmerising. The Daft Punk influence is everywhere, even if Guy-Manuel de Homen-Christo hasn't contributed to all tracks. ''Songbird in a Cage'' is my favorite song of the album. SebastiAn’s production is top-notch. Charlotte’s voice is addictive. A+

Dec 3, 2017The consistency in songwriting tactics provided an easy listen, but the underwhelming melodic layer made the actual results vary quite a bit with their inability to string together a likeable shaped phrase, to which my admiration of the synthesizer and form uniqueness couldn’t carry the whole work even with the overall strong harmonic foundation. My Score: 124/180 (Good) = 6.9/10

Nov 29, 2017I was shooked when I first heared that album. I didn't expect sounds very romantic, like from 20's or 30's France. Also whispery voice gave much more sensation to it

Feb 6, 2018Outstanding work with the sound, abundance of catchy tunes and thoughtful, memorable lines make Rest an engaging experience for any listener, guaranteed to evoke or further develop the interest for the story of the illustrious Gainsbourg family.
-
Dec 7, 2017With its cinematic strings and glacial synth arrangements, Rise is certainly rife with theatricality--but rather than play-acting at the role of singer, Gainsbourg’s patchwork embeds the answers to those questions, and many more, deep within.

Dec 6, 2017With Rest, she grows more fearless as an artist while facing her losses, and the future, with courage and love.
