  1. Once the Dusty Springfield-flecked closer, 'Distant Dreamer,' comes round, you'll be wishin' and hopin' for more.
  2. Duffy's not a belter, but she boasts a cool power that is immensely aided by the cleverness of Rockferry's instrumental settings, which employ mostly acoustic instruments for a warmer sound that, in combination with Duffy's vocal prowess, stays sweet, soulful and satisfying.
  3. Rockferry is a fantastic album of burning blue soul.
  4. That ice-queen intrigue adds a certain cachet to the 23-year-old's occasionally overstudied lyrics.

Some songs are a little dull and they don't own the deepest feeling of an a angered-heartbreaking soulful voice. "Rockferry" would be a simple desert where you can find two or three oasis in it, but it continues being a desert. My congratulations for "Warwick Avenue", "Syrup&Honey", "Mercy" and specially "Distant Dreamer" (the best for the last) In simple words, just a little more of potency for the next time, Duffy. She won 3 Brit Awards a Grammy Award as well as countless other wins and nomintations for this album, and rightly so. Somehow Duffy managed to release this record on a very tight budget and still went on to become the highest selling album in the UK the year it was released and was the 6th best selling in the world, and this success was through one thing, talent. She's not selling club music, rock music or any music that fits a 'popular' genre, she released music that yes, may have been 'old school' much like Amy Winehouse, but it was somehow her own, blue eyed soul at it's best, were as Amy's music was very dark rhythm and blues. This album will not only go down in Welsh history, it will go down in British music history, and, yes, possibly worldwide music history. A stunning album by a stunning artist. Full Review »
