They can say anything they want, but Duffy lacks so much of the so called "eyed-blue soul" music. Some songs are a little dull and they don't own the deepest feeling of an a angered-heartbreaking soulful voice. "Rockferry" would be a simple desert where you can find two or three oasis in it, but it continues being a desert. My congratulations for "Warwick Avenue", "Syrup&Honey", "Mercy"They can say anything they want, but Duffy lacks so much of the so called "eyed-blue soul" music. My congratulations for "Warwick Avenue", "Syrup&Honey", "Mercy" and specially "Distant Dreamer" (the best for the last) In simple words, just a little more of potency for the next time, Duffy. 1. For a debut album it's remarkably consistent and confident, and promises great things to come for the future.
  2. Duffy’s debut is hoovered of personality, principally, because on this evidence, she hasn’t got any.
  3. At this point, however, the movement of white UK female artists using 60s nostalgia to reinvent pop music is not all that original, but at least it’s a welcome break from the previous trends.
