Small EP for Hudson Mohawke who continues a work full of originality and constantly more confused than surprising. As always, expressive tempos and beats, incredible switches even if great tracks at first sight can easily become unbearable, as 'Thunder Bay' can be for example. Fortunately I can recognize that this short and slight effort is definitely spectacular, especially the songs 'Octan' and 'All Your Love', that were the two most astonishing tracks of the record. After all the anticipation, Satin Panthers demonstrates that Birchard remains a talent worth lauding, and hopefully this release is a mere taster for further top-rate HudMo jams soon to come.

The way Satin Panthers comes at you is definitely much more abbreviated and more focused; whether or not this is due only to the shortness of the EP is quickly dispelled with how well the five songs do ebb and flow.

Easily Hud-Mo's best work yet. [Aug 2011, p.67]
