Serpentine Path reeks of seasoned musicians who know exactly where they want to take their sound, and more importantly, have the hard-earned grit to accomplish it.

Terrifying yet magnificent horror from a group getting doom metal so very right.

Serpentine Path is an unapologetically straightforward statement, one that's either going to sound awesomely monolithic or numbingly monotonous depending on the listener's appetite for extreme doom. But on its own terms, the album is highly successful.

As with most extreme death/doom albums verging on the funereal, this one requires a little patience, but the payoff is well worth it.

Their no-frills approach to doom is dark and incredibly heavy, but deliciously uncompromising. While it takes a few tracks for the band to shine through, it is worth the wait.

Meandering and dirge-like, the eight songs here live up to the band's moniker, weaving slow and snaky through the album's 42 minutes and what we can only presume is a veritable wall of amplification. Tune in and nod out.
