  • Summary: Clocking in at 65 minutes, this EP from Japanese experimental electronica producer Nobukazu Takemura contains just four songs, including the title track (which differs from the version on 'Hoshi No Koe') and "Souvenir in Chicago," a 35-minute jam session featuring members of Tortoise.

    Ineffably gorgeous. [18 Jan 2002, p.80]

There's an appealing openness and lack of guile to much of Sign. [#215, p.66]

Much like the bubbly permutations of recent Mouse on Mars discs, the four pieces on Sign feature over an hour's worth of rapturous electronic textures. [Mar 2002, p.90]
  4. Seldom has "laptop" music been more magical or more joyful.
  5. Urb
    70
Departs from the most interesting moments of his past work and thankfully st-st-st-st-stays there awhile.
  6. Bypasses the wiry, anxious suggestiveness of his medium in favor of thought-clearing contemplation.
  7. While there are some fascinating passages on "Souvenir in Chicago," including sections inspired by a shared love of the minimalism of Steve Reich, the piece never quite becomes a coherent work.
