Danzig mostly avoids the obvious greatest hits, favouring instead reverb-heavy lo-fi treatments that faithfully reference the originals without shooting for all-out mimicry. [Summer 2020, p.85]

He puts his own spin on tracks with minimal brooding instrumentation, but he delivers for his idol in conventional fashion even adjusting his vocals to mimic Presley more than he normally would.
  3. 70
He puts his vocals on bright display as compared to the sparse musical backing. It’s not quite the unrestrained dissection that Johnny Cash’s American Recordings series was, but it leans in that direction.

Too close to the original to be a worthy reinvention, and too flawed in execution to feel like a successful homage, although this will almost certainly remain the only Elvis tribute album to include a sample from Aleister Crowley, at least until Jimmy Page gets around to making one.

At this point in his own career, Danzig may still be able to approximate Elvis’s vocal range, but he fails to invest these songs with a unique vision.

Danzig's constant over-producing of songs kind of hurt him on this one. There were certainly a few good covers on it but for the most part,Danzig's constant over-producing of songs kind of hurt him on this one. There were certainly a few good covers on it but for the most part, They're all too similar sounding and almost come off as uninspired. Considering how long we had to wait for this, I expected a lot better. Expand
