Nov 15, 2012This album is what is right with hip hop. It is creative and intelligent to the point of nearly being self aware. Listening to the album, one cannot help but hear in it the soundtrack of one's nightmares- but in a good way. Dark and obtuse but not off putting, Skelethon bears repeated listening.

Nov 12, 2013This album is freaking amazing. Aesop Rock kills it, and he is a great lyricist. I wished rappers like him would be out in the spotlight instead of all this trashy trap rappers these days.

Jan 8, 2016This is a fantastic Aesop Rock album. He had heavy beats and complicated lyrics. Great featured artists who compliment these so well, such as Kimya Dawson. In the lyrics he went to some pretty dark places dealing with death of his friends and asking for forgiveness. This album is great and worth listening to.

Apr 1, 2016this is another well crafted album by a truly gifted MC. The storytelling is flawless like his past works, while also going into great detail explaining what they're about. the production choices he uses here suit his unique flow. two of my favorite tracks off here is Zero Dark Thirty and ruby 81.

Jun 23, 2019Intense, varied and very engaging from start to finish. Aesop rock is one of the most unique and consistent rappers out there imo

Nov 26, 2012For Skelethon is the kind of record an artist only makes once in their career; the culmination of long-gestation, departing loved ones and having to innovate out of your comfort zone.

The WireOct 3, 2012His murky but upbeat productions augment this sensation, giving Skelethon a sort of B-boy gothic feel, an old school park jam recreated by Tim Burton. [Sep 2012, p.74]

Sep 18, 2012However challenging or confusing his rhymes can be, the songs still work with their combination of banging beats, rich lyricism, and twisted humor.
